SellC Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
SellC: Bundles App & Upsells (“SellC” or “the App”) is a Shopify app. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the team that builds and runs SellC. This policy explains what information the App collects when a merchant installs it on their Shopify store, how we use it, and the choices merchants and their customers have.
1. Information we collect
From merchants (store owners and staff)
- Store details from Shopify: shop domain, store name, contact email, currency, money format, time zone, Shopify plan type, and your SellC plan.
- Login session data that Shopify provides when staff open the App. Where Shopify includes them, this means the staff member’s name, email address and admin language.
- The deals and settings you create, including deal texts, translations, styles and targeting.
- Images you upload for deals. These are stored in your store’s own Shopify Files, not on our servers.
- Store markets, languages and product unit costs, read from Shopify so deals can be limited to markets, translated, and shown with profit in analytics.
- Support conversations you have in the App.
About your store’s customers (shoppers)
- We do not collect or store shoppers’ names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses or payment details.
- For checkouts that contain a SellC deal, we store the order ID or checkout token, currency, quantities, the amounts paid for deal items, and which deal, tier and product they belong to. We use this only to report results to the merchant.
- Deal views and add-to-carts are counted in aggregate, not per person.
- The SellC storefront widget saves two small values in the shopper’s browser (localStorage): which A/B test version of a deal they were shown, so it stays the same on every visit, and which deals they have seen. These are not sent to us with any personal identifier.
- The SellC analytics pixel runs only when the shopper has allowed analytics under the store’s cookie/consent settings.
- Our server sees the IP address of requests to our analytics endpoint. We use it only briefly, in memory, to prevent abuse, and we do not store it.
2. How we use information
We use the information only to run the App. That means showing deals on the storefront, applying deal discounts at checkout, showing analytics and A/B test results to the merchant, providing support, and working out which SellC plan applies. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.
3. AI features
Some optional features use an AI service to generate text: auto-translating deal texts, drafting deals with the assistant, and answering support questions. When you use them, we send the relevant content to our AI provider, OpenAI. That content can be deal texts, your prompt, the text of a web page or a screenshot you choose to share, your support messages, and basic facts about your SellC setup (such as your plan, whether the app embed is on, and how many deals are live). We never send shopper personal data to the AI provider. AI output is shown to you as a draft or answer; the App never publishes AI-generated changes to your store without your action.
4. Sharing and service providers
We share data only with service providers that help us run the App:
- Shopify, the platform the App runs on.
- OpenAI, for the AI features described above.
- A cloud hosting provider, which hosts our application servers and database.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Retention and deletion
- When a merchant uninstalls the App, we stop processing their store’s data. Shopify sends us a deletion request (shop/redact) 48 hours after uninstall, and we then permanently delete all of that store’s data, including deals, analytics, support conversations and sessions. If the App is reinstalled within those 48 hours, the deals and settings are still there.
- When Shopify sends us a customer data request or customer deletion request on behalf of a shopper, we respond to it. On a deletion request we delete any order records linked to that customer’s orders.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or to object to its processing. Merchants can delete all of their data at any time by uninstalling the App. Shoppers should first contact the store they bought from, and we will help the merchant respond. You can also contact us directly using the details below.
7. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Access to our servers and database is limited to the people who operate the App.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. We will notify merchants of significant changes through the App.
